Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will work independently and as part of a team to support all manufacturing aspects of the development, specification, implementation, measurement, and optimization of manufacturing tools and processes. As a member of the production team, work to assure new products can be manufactured in the most reliable, economical method. Assures product designs are optimized for manufacturability. This position requires general CAD experience with proficiency in 3D Modeling and 2D Drawing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the manufacturing expert in determining best methods for producing components and finished articles.
  • Work with other team members to provide accurate cost estimates for molded, stamped, and assembled product
  • Design, specify, and implement process, tooling, and fixtures for new product manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes
  • Follow the milestone-based Phoenix Contact Development Process.
  • Serve as the project manager for major manufacturing activities.
  • Investigate new suppliers to grow manufacturing competencies
  • Play an integral role in the purchasing process (written specification, quotation, bid-evaluation, order placement, change-order management, delivery, and acceptance).
  • Conduct cost-calculations, including capital tooling, machinery estimates, labor, overhead, material components (throughout the development process, including conceptual phase).
  • Complete the machine qualification and validation process along with documentation.

    Must-Have Qualifications
    • BS Degree or higher in an Engineering discipline
    • Technical knowledge and/or skills of Mechanical assembly of tool and die systems.
    • Ability to read and understand 2 & 3D tooling drawings with a working knowledge of CAD preferred
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.

          Must Be Able To---
          • Move or lift at least 50 pounds
          • Use pallet jack with 300 pound load
          • Push 4-wheeled cart with 100 pound load
          • Work a 6 day week, if required
          • Stand or sit continually for four hours
          • Use computer for eight hours at a time
          • Ensure attendance is in accordance with company policies.
          • Drive or fly to distant supplier, customer, mandatory training session, and stay overnight for periods of up to two weeks
          • Be willing to travel internationally
          • Speak and understand English to communicate verbally and in writing
