SYNOPSIS:

Responsible for firmware architecture/conceptualization, real-time embedded code programming, and supporting project and product management as required within a cross-functional development team.

Support and help lead the firmware team in achieving state-of-the-art and sustainable performance through the development of team capabilities and best practices in alignment with the Phoenix Contact product development processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical
    • Write C/C++ code for real-time embedded systems
    • Creation of architectures and designs in support of product requirements
    • Write design documentation and creation of development test strategies
    • Lead and directly participate in technology projects
    • Research applicable emerging technologies
    • Act as subject matter expert for key technologies pertinent to the group
    • Participate in standards-based technology working groups
    • Work together with both global and local engineering teams to maintain knowledge of programs and peer technologies
    • Leadership
      • Lead internal and provide input to external (3rd Party) development teams
      • Ability to take proactive action to mitigate risk and facilitate the completion of projects within time and budget constraints
      • Lead development of project estimates and FW development plans
      • Coach team on best practices and support a culture of continuous improvement
      • Ensure that corporate development standards and procedures are followed
        QUALIFICATIONS:
        • BS (MS/MEE preferred) in Computer Science or related field is Required
        • Expert level knowledge / experience (5+ years) developing firmware/software for high reliability applications (Industrial, Automotive, Medical, Defense, etc.)
        • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and create innovative solutions
        • Experience with industry best practices in firmware / software development and quality assurance

          Preference for:
          • Proven experience developing applications for embedded Linux in C/C++
          • Knowledge of web and cloud technologies
          • Source level knowledge of Ethernet based and industrial communication protocols
          • 3+ years' experience leading development teams and working within cross-functional groups to successfully bring products to market

            ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
            • Must be eligible to receive US passport
            • Must be able to travel by air
            • Must be able to ride in a car for 6 hours at a time
            • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
            • Must be able to communicate in English (written & verbal)
            • Must be able to travel overseas for extended periods if required
