Job Description:

Merit is looking for an Account Manager to lead the client experience across their assigned portfolio. The Account Manager acts as a key player in the agency's success by developing strategic and long-term relationships with our clients.The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering a stand-out client experience that increases the client's trust and spend with the agency. Account Managers at Merit work cross-functionally to ensure internal and external teams are supported and advocated for throughout the client engagement. They contribute and lead comprehensive and innovative business strategies and marketing programs of all shapes and sizesTo succeed in this role means:

  • You are curious and driven. You're passionate about staying up to date on industry trends and issues that affect our clients and/or advancing the agency and our ideas, work, or services and capabilities. You are also continuously seeking opportunities to provide value to clients as well as new opportunities for the agency beyond an initial engagement or project.

Don't worry, we're not asking you to crack open InDesign and create something (unless you want to?!) but like Merit, you believe that being creative is a talent all people can possess, whether they're on the creative team or not. From the strategies we build, a creative campaign we ideate to how we integrate technology into a campaign or solution, we strive to build a culture that recognizes creativity is a skill set we all passionately share.
  • You can command a room and facilitate a collaborative working session. We enjoy what we do and who we do it with; internally and with our clients. This means you too should work well in a team environment and enjoy collaborating and connecting with peers and clients. But since you're also a natural leader, you know when it's time to make decisions and move forward. You can also clearly articulate marketing program strategies and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • You appreciate the view at 30,000 ft as much as you do at 300 ft. You want to understand the big picture of a project or client's business but understand the importance of turning the big picture into an actionable plan for both the client and the internal team.
  • You're agile. Both in how you think and how you work, adjusting to the ebbs and flows of clients and client expectations, varying deadlines and priorities.Primary responsibilities include:
    • Serving as a strategic liaison between clients and internal practitioners to bring projects, campaigns and/or various client deliverables to fruition
    • Day-to-day client relationship management; communicating and partnering closely with the project management and agency operations teams to ensure proper workload and staffing based on client expectations and key milestones
    • Effectively managing project tasks, timelines, internal resources and budgets according to the agreed-upon scope of work
    • Facilitating and/or participating in the ideation and building of comprehensive and tactical marketing solutions based on a client's business objectives, goals and needs
      Supporting the agency in the preparation of client presentations, proposals, new business pitches and special projects
    • Ensuring a positive business relationship with clients - making sure all appropriate stakeholders are aware of all progress and activity, clearly defining and communicating next steps, and addressing any and all client comments or concerns.
    • Reporting appropriate client developments and updates to the Director of Client Experience including new revenue opportunities and relationship opportunity forecastingQualifications:
      • Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field
      • 3+ years of integrated marketing experience required
      • Experience in a boutique agency setting is highly preferred
      • Strong communication and presentation skills
      • Highly organized and able to juggle multiple clients and/or projects
      • Proven experience in effectively managing integrated marketing programs across multiple mediums, including; research, brand strategy, communications and public relations, and creative and technologyMerit benefits include:
