Willow Valley Communities requires that all new hires are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, be willing to be vaccinated or will qualify for an approved exemption prior to their first day of employment.Willow Valley is hiring a Director of Nursing to oversee all nursing operations in Skilled Care. Responsible for assuring clinical excellence and ensuring appropriate staffing levels with no or minimal agency use. Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations and takes prompt corrective action when deficiencies are noted. The DON works with the nursing team to keep CMS star rating at a good or excellent level. Promotes a positive work environment for Team Members and keeps nursing staff turnover rates at a minimum.Responsibilities:Models exemplary customer service and the MORE values towards Team Members and Residents.Creates a positive, encouraging, and educational environment for Team Members.Ensures consistency among Supportive Living Communities in all operations, policies and procedures.Effectively plans, organizes, and directs administration of each nursing unit, assuring Residents of a comfortable, clean, orderly and safe environment. Evaluates nursing service needs and determines staffing requirements.Understands and monitors the nursing turnover on a monthly basis and recommends/implements changes to reduce turnover, where possible.Develops and maintains nursing service objectives and standards of nursing practice, develops nursing policies and procedures and reviews/revises job descriptions for nursing personnel.Monitors nursing practices and equipment for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.Mentors each Clinical Nurse Manager and ensures that they are appropriately and effectively managing their unit.Executes Resident care policies in consultation with the medical director.Oversees the quality of services provided to Residents and is responsible for the nursing quality improvement initiatives and programs.Directs the hiring and training of nursing staff for available positions to ensure 24 hour coverage.Ensures that the Team Member disciplinary process is fair and consistent and used appropriately.Mentors each Clinical Nurse Manager to ensure that staff is positive and demonstrating the MORE values and are coached appropriately, when needed.Establishes procedures for the administration and control of medications in consultation with Quality Standards of the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Committee.In conjunction with the Healthcare Administrator, determines the need for improvements, deletions and/or additions to equipment, programs and service contracts.Maintains excellent relationships with Team Members, Team Leaders, Residents and family members.Participates in monthly Team Member meetings and licensed nurse meetings.Responsible for completion of forms for state and federal requirements, including Medicare.Responsible for meeting and/or exceeding the expectations of Residents and families.Identifies and addresses potential and existing interpersonal conflicts while promoting a team concept.Performs duties of staff nurse, if needed and is on-call for emergencies that supervisory personnel cannot handle.Uses educational resources and works with the supportive Living education department to maintain and update nursing staff on current gerontological/medical and nursing practices.Provides supervisory support to all shifts.Expected to come in on off hours/shifts periodically to make rounds and connect with the nursing staff.Reviews all incident reports for completion in a timely manner and implements changes to prevent reoccurrences.Assures all nursing Team Members are prepared for potential emergency situations and are trained to respond promptly to alarm systems.Manages subordinate Team Leaders who supervise Team Members in the Nursing Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the nursing areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining/firing Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree (B.
