We are looking for a Medical Director to p rovide expert medical
consultation, medical interpretations, and/or medical
recommendations regarding clinical practice issues in health care
facilities . This position will be full-time and hybrid. What
You'll Do
- Provides expert medical consultation, medical interpretations,
and/or medical recommendations regarding clinical practice issues
in health care facilities. Participates with the Secretary,
deputate, bureau and division staff in quality improvement
activities to define or interpret key indicators that can denote
trends and measure outcomes of care quality, review and analyze
data, and make recommendations to enhance the regulatory role of
department surveyors
- Provides medical consultant to staff on a variety of clinical
conditions, medical contraindications and adverse reactions.
- Reviews, advises, and recommends changes to statues,
regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines affecting delivery
of quality care in facilities to conform to current standards of
medical practice
- Works collaboratively with the and QA program staff to provide
scientific and clinical input for regulatory development from
initiation to implementation
- Participates in intra and interdepartmental committees and work
groups as requested
- Participates with other central office physicians in
environmental and epidemiological investigations as they affect
health care facilities regulated by the department
- If assigned, emergency assignments may be performed under
adverse conditions and continue for periods ranging from a few
hours to several weeks What You'll Need Required:
- Experience reviewing records to assist surveyors regarding
clinical services, reviews and analyzes medical aspects of
exceptions, monitors data collected by surveyors and identifies
trends that should be addressed with the health care facility
- Experience reviewing potential survey deficiencies to determine
if appropriate and current medical practice protocols were followed
in the facility. Conducts trend analysis on deficiencies, makes
recommendations on sanctions
- Experience providing witness testimony and written reports for
use in litigation
- Experience providing clinical expertise when requested or
necessary
- Experience providing medical advice on issues specific to
special populations served by health facilities such as those in
nursing care facilities or intermediate care facilities for the
intellectually challenged
- Experience monitoring quality indicators in the Minimum Data
Set (MDS) and Outcome and Assessment infotmation Set (OASIS) to
evaluate resident/patient health status Preferred:
- Experience monitoring reports by health care facilities under
Chapter 51 of Title 28 Health and Safety of the PA Code to identify
outliers in quality care. This includes those reports under the
MCARE ACT as they pertain to Chapter 51 of Title 28 Health and
Safety code
- Experience providing in-service training for field and program
staff on issues/programs related to health issues in
facilities
- Experience demonstrating awareness of the vulnerable
populations the organization serves by identifying, providing, and
advocating for resources, services, communication methods, and
policies that would help those populations achieve health equity
