PENNSYLVANIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS Position Title: Public Policy Manager Reports To: Director of Public Policy & Political Affairs Position Overview: The Public Policy Manager assists in the development, implementation, and communication of the legislative, and regulatory relations of the Association. The qualified candidate will work with the Director of Public Policy & Political Affairs to help advance the priorities of the association's membership with elected, and appointed government officials.--Each member of the Government Affairs Team within the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors (PAR) has specific individual duties, but qualified candidates will be a team player who loves to help others excel. Responsibilities & Duties: 1.------------Coordinate with Director to develop and foster positive working relationships with State elected, appointed, and nominated officials. 2.------------Conduct regular and consistent tracking, reviewal, and monitoring of proposed legislation in the legislature as well as regulation and policy adoptions from administrative departments or regulatory agencies. 3.------------Attend and report on legislative committee and regulatory agency meetings and hearings. 4.------------Assist Director with lobbying efforts, attend fundraisers and coalition meetings, and interface with legislative and agency staff. 5.------------Coordinate with Media Relations Manager to write communications on legislation including messaging, letters to legislators, and testimony.6.------------Serve as liaison to the State Real Estate Commission and State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers, including attendance at meetings, coordination of line officer attendance and written comments, and summarization of meeting actions.7.------------Help expedite process for members seeking appointment to agencies listed under the PAR Policy Statement on Appointments, including collection of resumes and applications, candidate interview process and recommendation to the relevant agency. 8.------------Attend National Association of Realtors Legislative Meetings and Government Affairs Directors Institute. --9.------------Write and distribute Capitol Report on weekly basis when Legislature is in session. 10.----Coordinate, staff and prepare minutes for PAR Committees as assigned. 11.----Assume other duties as assigned by Director and/or CEO. Qualifications:1.------------Bachelor's Degree2.------------5+ years experience in government, legislature, administration, or state agency3.------------Strong written and oral presentation skills4.------------Ability to analyze and summarize complex legislation and regulatory documents5.------------Understanding of legislative process and bill preparation
