Job Description UPMC is seeking an Invasive Cardiac Tech to
support the Cardiac and Vascular Department at UPMC Harrisburg
Location: UMPC Harrisburg Employment Type: Full time - Days
Schedule: 4 10-hour shifts or 5 8-hour shifts during the week
On-Call requirement: One weeknight (Monday - Thursday per week) One
weekend (Friday through Monday every 4 weeks) New Grads and current
Radiology Technicians looking to grow in a new and exciting area

a 2-year commitment to eligible hires! Purpose: Performs imaging
procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require
independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Responsibilities: -
Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers
and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures. Reviews
patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific
departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of
data. Documents patient history in electronic record as required -
Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in
a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the
patient's fears and solicit their cooperation - Demonstrates a
strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while
displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect.
Able to work as team member within the department and all other
departments to expedite patient care efficiently - Maintains point
of care testing standards, including daily quality control, for
devices used for procedures. - Provides stand by call coverage, as
scheduled, in accordance with system-wide stand by call
procedure/policy. - Administers contrast under the direction of the
procedure physician. - Demonstrates competency in functioning in
the first assist position. - Fosters an environment that supports
aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the
incorporation of a time-out process. - Practices with attentiveness
to radiation safety for the patient as well as others in the
procedure room including appropriate use of lead shielding and
monitoring devices. Assures documentation of patient radiation
exposure in electronic record. - Demonstrate proper positioning and
appropriate radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and
interventional procedures. Exhibits a clear understanding of
correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient
monitoring systems. - Support other departments as directed or
assigned. Must demonstrate a basic knowledge of the operation of
both equipment and supplies. - Some responsibilities may not be
applicable due to specific job locations. - Ensures all images
within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and
tracked through the PACS, and are properly networked to appropriate
electronic record for archival and interpretation, and all charges
are adequately entered for the procedures performed. Maintains
continuing education and competency requirements for position. -
Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R)
or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS) or Invasive
Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS) certification or
certified/licensed as a Paramedic in the state of Pennsylvania with
current credentialing maintained. - Bachelor of Science in health
care related filed accepted but not required. Licensure,
Certifications, and Clearances: ARRT certified as a Radiologic
Technologist or RCIS as a Cardiovascular Specialist or
certified/licensed as a Paramedic in the state of Pennsylvania is
required. CPR certification is required. ACLS certification is
desired upon hire. Successful completion of ACLS certification
required within orientation period. New graduates have 1 year to
obtain their board certification. - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS) - Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
(CPR) - Paramedic OR Radiologic Technologist OR Registered Cardiac
Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive
