Physician Assistant Job Details Location: Altoona, PA 16601 (Central Pennsylvania healthcare jobs) Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel/Contract Physician Assistant position) Duration: 13 weeks (March 2, 2026 – June 1, 2026) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p); possible weeknight and weekend call coverage Estimated Weekly Hours: 36 Estimated Weekly Salary: $4200–$4500 Physician Assistant Qualifications Active Pennsylvania Physician Assistant license required Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant, ideally in cardiac surgery or cardiology (inpatient and outpatient) Experience with vein harvesting and OR first assist highly preferred Proficiency in managing post-operative ICU patients and performing procedures (wound vac placement, suture/staple removal) Strong communication and teamwork skills Willingness to participate in call coverage for cardiac surgery emergencies Cardiology Physician Assistant Responsibilities Deliver advanced practice provider coverage in hospital and clinic settings Round on post-operative cardiac surgery patients in the ICU each morning Assist in the OR with cardiac procedures: CABG, AVR, MVR, TVR, convergence, wire removal, myxoma removal, pericardial window Conduct consults from hospital floors and outpatient cardiac cath lab Participate in clinic visits for wound checks, pre/post-op patients, yearly aneurysm evaluations, and telephone visits Perform wound vac placements, suture/staple removal, and shared charting with MD Coordinate video consultations with thoracic surgery for in-house assessments and document recommendations Participate in call coverage for OR emergencies and weekend in-house patient management Apply now to join our healthcare team in Altoona, Pennsylvania and advance your career in cardiac surgery and cardiology!
