Job Description Job Description Job purpose Under the guidance
of the Clinical Director, the therapist implements a therapeutic
prescription for patients in our office. Our patient base consists
largely of concussion, vestibular disorders, and other complex
neurological syndromes. The therapist provides regular face-to-face
interaction with patients and their families to provide feedback,
home exercises, encouragement, and progress reports. The therapist
also oversees therapy-aide staff. Duties and responsibilities
Patient communication The therapist has the opportunity to interact
with patients and their families throughout all phases of
intervention with our office: initial contact, consultation,
examination, report of findings, therapy and conclusion of care.
The therapist assists the Clinical Director during exams as well as
making independent functional evaluations. The therapist produces
patient reports of the findings of the evaluation. The therapist
assists in the development of a therapy plan checklist for each
patient. The therapist performs the prescribed treatment, with
consideration for the patient’s ability and endurance. The
therapist modifies a patient’s plan and/or brings concerns to the
attention of the Clinical Director as progress is made (or as
concerns may arise). The therapist may follow-up as needed with
current or prospective patients as the situation demands. Complete
paperwork required for billing and clinical purposes. Comply with
all state and federal laws governing the provision of services. The
therapist’s administrative duties may include preparation and light
cleaning of the therapy area; assisting with marketing efforts;
assisting the administrative staff with clinically-related
questions; participating in staff meetings; participating in
regular training, and other tasks that may arise from time-to-time.
Moderately heavy physical exertion (occasionally lift and/or move
more than 50 pounds). Stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
Vision requirements include close, distance, depth perception and
ability to adjust focus. Qualifications Qualifications include:
Licensure to perform Occupational Therapy in the state of Maryland.
Licensure in surrounding states a plus for virtual visits.
Professional interest in neurological rehabilitation, especially
vestibular, oculomotor, and sensory-motor techniques Willingness
and ability to be trained Team-oriented approach to patient care
Organizational skills Communication skills Advanced clinical skill
in observation Working conditions / Office description Our office
treats children and adults with a broad range of conditions and
abilities. We primarily provide advanced, tertiary therapeutic
rehabilitation for neurological disorders. As such, patient
behaviors can sometimes be unpredictable. An ideal candidate is
willing and able to accommodate these differences in a positive,
encouraging, empowering, and supportive way.
