people heal. Roles & Responsibilities Prepare patients for imaging
exams and explain procedures in clear, compassionate language
Perform diagnostic imaging using CR, DR and fluoroscopy according
to physician orders Position patients accurately and select proper
techniques to capture diagnostic-quality images Operate CR readers,
printers and DR/Fluoro rooms safely and efficiently Transfer and
route images to PACS, adjust priorities (STAT/URGENT) when needed
Assist Radiologists and Fluoro Techs during fluoroscopic and
special procedures Perform portable radiography across Emergency,
OR, PACU and other nursing units Prepare and administer oral and IV
contrast media and document any reactions and steps taken Maintain
accurate documentation in PACS including history, limitations,
date/time and technologist initials Follow ALARA principles to
protect patients and staff and promote radiation safety Perform
clerical and QA duties, keep work areas orderly, and support
departmental workflow Mentor and explain policies and procedures to
radiology students as assigned Qualifications Registered with the
ARRT in Radiology (required) BLS Healthcare Provider certification
(meets AHA standards) and kept current Completion of an
ARRT-approved Radiologic Technology training program One year of
radiology experience preferred in a hospital, clinic or physician's
office Comfortable operating CR, DR and fluoroscopy equipment and
CR readers/printers Experience with PACS, image transfer, image
release and CD burner workflows Ability to prepare and administer
contrast media and respond to contrast reactions Strong
communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to
troubleshoot equipment Education High School diploma or equivalent
Completion of a specialized Radiologic Technology program approved
by ARRT Knowledge & Skills Medical terminology, anatomy and
physiology knowledge Radiologic imaging techniques and patient
positioning Proficiency with PACS, CR, DR and Fluoroscopy systems
Contrast media preparation and administration (IV/Oral) Radiation
safety practices and ALARA principles Sterile technique for
procedures performed in OR and special procedures Portable
radiography operation across multiple hospital departments
Equipment operation, troubleshooting and basic maintenance Customer
