The Program Manager is accountable for managing programs consisting of interconnected large and complex projects (internal and external, including client and vendor facing) with phased deliveries. This role ensures a cohesive process is being followed, manages the dependencies between the projects and their impact on the company, and effectively allocates resources.
Additionally, the Program Manager may oversee Project Managers work to ensure superior and professional experience with a keen focus on quality and project management standards. This role also offers critical guidance to project teams, vendors and business segments. The Program Manager will actively participate as a leadership member of the organization, contributing to the growth of Nelnet. This position will provide counsel and leadership to staff and assist with input to financials, budgeting, and planning goals, and drive efficiencies.
This position requires work in support of the Companys contract with the United States Department of Education (ED). As such, the United States Government requires that any applicant for this position must complete United States Government security clearance. Effective June 1, 2018, ED has informed Nelnet that security clearance applications for foreign nationals are not being accepted or processed. In light of this direction from ED, Nelnet will be unable to hire applicants without United States citizenship for such positions.
Colorado Candidates: Pay range for this role is $85,000-$115,000
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design implementation strategies for complex or new company initiatives.

Collaborate with managers and team leads to structure effective project teams.

Oversee the most critical project phases: Prospect, Analysis, and Planning.

Translate requests, goals, and obstacles into achievable, viable projects.

Ensure all complex projects are effectively scoped, assigned, and scheduled.

Lead and offer necessary support to Project Manager(s).

Accurately manage communication and information between stakeholders.

Program escalation point - build a strong rapport and monitor client satisfaction.

Introduce project management tools and best practices.

Address process gaps identified by internal teams and clients.

Predict future impediments to manage risks and scope creep.

Participate in RFPs, SOWs, SLAs, RFIs, and lead process improvement initiatives

Participate in extended Leadership Team activities including strategy, planning and budgeting

EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree (4 year degree BA or BS) and/or commensurate experience
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
4 + years of project management or technical experience.

4 + years of experience in leading large scale projects

Proven experience working with Senior Executives required

Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies; emphasis on traditional PMI practices.

Experience leading multiple project teams including dispersed resources.

Experience leading interconnected projects with shared three-constraint dependencies.

Public speaking and presentation skills, external, internal (including executives).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) - Microsoft Project required.

Business writing skills.
