Job Description:
At Amazon Web Services (AWS), we are at the forefront of
revolutionizing the cloud computing industry. We are seeking a
highly skilled and motivated Infra Decommission Technician to join
our Dynamic Compute Communities (DCC) team. This role focuses on
safely decommissioning and sanitizing hardware within our data
centers to ensure that sensitive information remains secure and AWS
resources are efficiently reallocated or recycled. As an Infra
Decommission Technician, you will be integral in managing the
lifecycle of our extensive infrastructure, maintaining AWS's
standard for operational excellence and sustainable practices.
Safely decommission and sanitize server hardware and associated
infrastructure within data center environments. Collaborate with
data center security and compliance teams to ensure all
decommission standards meet rigorous protocols. Document and
maintain accurate records for hardware disposal, data destruction
certification, and audit trails. Execute tasks in compliance with
AWS’s environmental and safety policies to ensure a sustainable
operation. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware
decommissioning to avoid operational disruptions. Participate in
continuous improvement initiatives to enhance decommission
processes and technologies. Proficiency in using tools and
technologies for hardware decommissioning. Strong understanding of
IT hardware and software components. Familiarity with data
sanitization and destruction protocols. Excellent organizational
and documentation skills. Ability to work in physically demanding
situations which may involve lifting heavy equipment. Medical
