If your answer is "yes', we're off to a good start.a little bit about the gigYou'll be joining us as the director of our Design team, where we believe that magic only happens when we push to make a difference through conceptual and informed design, to ultimately create great experiences for people.Our Design Director is a conceptual thinker with the experience to lead designers in projects that range from branding and brand support, UX/UI, digital and physical experiences of all sorts, concepting, and everything in between. The Design Director possesses an outstanding ability to inspire his/her team across any project, from the juiciest consumer brand to the most traditional B2B organization. They know how to defend strategic and creative choices, and teach that skill to their team. Curiosity is key in this position, as well as a yearning to innovate. They take creative responsibility for andculture design initiatives, guiding the Design team to deliver outstanding work. They mentor the design team towards owning their thinking, fostering a vibrant environment that prioritizes honest growth and collaboration over politics or competition. We aim to design experiences that over-deliver for our client partners, and most importantly, for their users. Here's a list of the things we expect you can help us with:Team Growth/Leadership Develop the Design team in a purposeful way in order to increase their competence, confidence, and capability to make significant contributions at andculture and with our client partnersVet and recruit talent and manage the interview process, offer and negotiation process, hiring process; continually review and revise salary bracketsLead the team to achieve results by selecting the right talent, getting the most out of each team member, leveraging the collaboration of people working together, and building team confidence and enthusiasmEstablish internal and external growth paths for the Design teamSupport and encourage the team to develop their skill sets by way of internal or external training opportunitiesEnsure client partners are receiving the best results from your teamMonitor activity of team through operational and account/project reviews and observing/coachingProvide thought leadership that leads to innovative work and best practicesWork alongside the team on client partner projects to help guide, coach, and mentorLive and breathe andculture's core values; practice and reinforce our behaviors; be our biggest brand championCollaborate across disciplines, develop internal partnerships that improve processes and agency successIdentify and set department goals that ladder up to agency goals; work with the team and across disciplines to collaborate on action plans when necessary, delegate goal responsibilities to direct reportsAssist in reaching company goals by understanding the strategic vision of andculture, working collaboratively with leadership to set objectives that deliver resultsAssist with sales process by contributing to proposals with approach, process definition, estimation, and/or pitchingParticipate in financial and allocation forecasting with andculture leadership team, COO, and CEOIdentify external learning and speaking engagements and participate either through speaking roles or networking opportunitiesDesign Responsibilities Engage andculture, agency, and client partners to build, execute, and deliver incredible design aligned with client's business strategiesLead and inspire a team of Designers and Design Leads through critiquing, evaluating, and editing design workMake recommendations on project direction and the path that will lead to inspired design solutionsEngage in functions spanning from discovery, to prototype, design, and post-production, as well as maintenance and marketingBased on user's needs, you'll synthesize go-forward tactics into a strategic design approachEncourage collaborative ways of working, enabling effective communication across different functions at andcultureInspire confidence internally and externally with thought-provoking questions grounded in design knowledge in line with business objectivesTake opportunities to institute new points-of-views on trends and insights, and develop new processes that push our design capabilitiesRequirementsStrong portfolio showcasing thinking, design and creative point-of-view and rationale, as well as creative and design direction10+ years of experience, ranging from hands-on creative/design for various types of clients and projects, including successfully leading a creative or design team - must be able to provide references for contactOrganizational and leadership skills, proven experience as a successful team leader or managerProven experience leading design initiatives varying in discipline, industries, size, and complexityConceptual thinker, able to take a team from soft and fuzzy ideas all the way to compelling creative territoriesStrong communication skills and working knowledge of graphic design and digital media - has walked the walk to talk the talkExcellent written and verbal communication, along with presentation skills. You will be in front of people a lot " presenting and pitchingExperience in planning, budgeting and assessing projects for proposal responsesYou are comfortable in situations of challenge and changeYou are equal parts creative and analyticalYou'll also come ready for a challenge! You may often be asked to play a role over time in diverse areas outside of your core expertise. We really, really like collaboration and finding the clash in all we do. That's where the magic happens.physical requirements:Ability to lift up to 20lbs (computer equipment, etc)Ability to sit for about 80% of the time.Ability to look at a computer screen 80% of the time.Ability to use stairs to navigate around the office.This position is remote-to-start with the hopes of returning in-person to the Harrisburg, PA office when it is safe to return. Remote and Hybrid work locations will also be considered.SDL2017
