Skills we are seeking:
Be seeking a degree in Geography or closely related field with a
specific interest in GIS.
A basic understanding of GIS editing techniques and data
Cartographic knowledge and map scaling
Ability to function in a fast paced and demanding environment
with shifting priorities.
What will you be doing?
Are you interested in learning how water gets from the source
point to your faucet? Do you like to work with professionals from
many different fields? Suez is national utility provider with local
operations in central and northeastern Pennsylvania. We serve about
60,000 people in our 4 major operations: Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg,
Bloomsburg, and Dallas/Shavertown.
Suez is a fast paced environment and we seek a student that
wants to learn new skill sets and participate in the completion of
large Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects. As an intern
with Suez, you will get an opportunity to interact and assist
professionals from many different fields. While working with these
professionals, you will get a chance to make a positive impact on
the company's GIS database and operations.
The intern will be responsible for the collection and correction
of GPS data for newly installed and existing company assets.
Additionally, this position will assist with reviewing old records
and gathering useful information which can be added to GIS
database. The student will also assist the GIS Lead with creation
of other GIS layers and mapping products as needed.
What you will learn:
Conducting a large scale project with little supervision.
Using a GPS unit and iPads to capture assets.
Provide mapping support using Enterprise GIS Portal, ArcGIS
Online, and ArcMap 10.8.1
Integrate various sources of information into a GIS geodatabase
using Amazon Web Services
