Position Title: Assistant to the SuperintendentDepartment: AdministrativeReports To: Superintendent of SchoolsSalary in accordance with the Act 93 agreementPurpose of PositionReporting directly to the Superintendent, the Assistant to the Superintendent has responsibility for the District's academic support services as well as the academic performance of all schools in additional to assisting with the management and operations of the District. The Assistant to the Superintendent supports the educational performance of the district, providing leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the District's curriculum, instruction, assessment and school improvement initiatives, overseeing professional development for all teachers & principals and supervising the operational and management of the schools. In addition, responsibilities include the oversight of charter schools/charter school reporting and support for student services. The position requires a strong leader who has deep experience in the design, integration, implementation and management of large, complex district focused on improving student outcomes, curriculum and instructional practices, school operations and management, and leadership development.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* Builds and supports a high performance educational team - integrating and aligning the academic work of the district. Develops and maintains clear and inclusive decision-making processes to ensure integration of academic supports and services, as well as effective ongoing technical and operational management of the schools. Supports a team that includes directors of curriculum & instruction, special programs, and administrators.* Identifies and implements effective curriculum, instruction, and assessment policies and practices that maximize educational options and lead to improved achievement for all students. Balances educational consistency with appropriate autonomy at schools, fosters best practice sharing and opportunities for collaboration at all levels.* Provides the required supports & fosters a culture that motivates teachers and administrators to perform at the level of excellence necessary to improve student achievement and narrows the achievement gap between racial, ethnic, and economic groups.* Supports district and school leaders to design and implement school improvement plans that employ instructional visions and practical strategies to improve student achievement.* Develops and oversees a high-quality professional development program for teachers, principals and staff.* Sets priorities and measurable goals and effectively manages district resources to support priorities and goal achievement.* Leads cross-functional teams within the district to implement operational policies that enable schools to maintain environments that support and maximize student achievement.* Oversees the development of partnerships with leading educational and community organizations both locally and nationally to support, complement and enhance district programs. Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, parents and guardians.* Supports operations of the district including transportation, food services and facilities.Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions* Master's Degree in the field of Education is required; Doctoral degree preferred.* Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility (or ability to obtain Letter of Eligibility within one year) required.* Relevant experience in Educational leadership and Urban Education is required.* Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and technology skills.* Ability to work in a team environment and work under stress. Ability to work effectively with people and be able to supervise others.* Ability to do job responsibilities with minimal supervision and ability to schedule time to meet deadlines.* Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.* Ability to manage information in Microsoft software and Google applications.* Ability to concentrate on the accuracy of detailed information, meet deadlines, multi-task, and work under pressure.* Ability to exercise judgment for when to act independently and when to refer situations to a supervisor.* Ability to work flexible hours and schedules.* Salary Range: $97,440 - $136,416
