Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a IT Help Desk Specialist
(Rotating Shift) to provide first line technical support to
employees and business partners outside of regular business hours.
The ideal candidate will possess 2+ years as a systems
administrator, help desk, and/or call center, 1+ year of using
written and spoken communication skills, and 1+ year of using
excellent phone etiquette.
Required Skills/Years of Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience as a systems administrator, help desk,
and call center
- 1+ year of experience using written and verbal communication
skills
- 1+ year of experience using excellent phone etiquette
- 1+ year of experience supporting end-users with varying IT
skillsets
- 1+ year of experience following directions when using
established run books, documentation, and delivery center standard
operating procedures
- 1+ year of experience adapting to change
- 1+ year of experience being detail-oriented and
resourceful
- 1+ year of experience using excellent organizational
skills
- 1+ year of experience troubleshooting end-user issues and
escalating as needed

of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a IT Help Desk Specialist
(Rotating Shift) to provide first line technical support to
employees and business partners outside of regular business hours.
The ideal candidate will possess 2+ years as a systems
administrator, help desk, and/or call center, 1+ year of using
written and spoken communication skills, and 1+ year of using
excellent phone etiquette.
The IT Help Desk Specialist (Night Shift) will be tasked to:
- Provide technical assistance, support, and advice to technical
and non-technical end-users calling for support of their IT
hardware or software
- Create and escalate trouble tickets to engineers, tier two ITSD
staff, and third-party service providers to ensure the quick
resolution
- Work with Engineers, IED staff and contracted personnel, and
third-party providers as needed
- Research and update reference publications and diagnostic aids
to seek information to resolve end-user issues
- Follow IT Service Desk procedures and Network Operator run
books and make recommendations for improvements
- Monitor the status of the IED network and attached assets using
established tools
- Monitor logs to ensure the successful completion of scheduled
tasks
- Monitor the Remedy ticket queue
- Respond to outages and system failures using established
escalation processes
- Monitor the network operator inbox for any event messages and
initiate action
- Monitors server farm building access
- Act as primary IT contact for all IED employees and business
partners outside of regular business hours
- Monitor the developer hotline during coverage hours
- Issue network status updates using established procedures
- Follow quality standards and displays strong customer service
skills
- Participate in account administration, including password
resets, restores, and account moves
- Assist the daytime network operators with outstanding
tasks
- Update network operator documentation and run books
- Participate in disaster recovery
- Complete assigned tasks
